All good things must come to an end.
The last time we had a final action date for F2A was the Summer of 2019.
In June 2019, the Final Action Date for F2A was July 15th, 2017. In July 2019, it became ‘current’ which means that the cutoff date moved forward two years to July 1st, 2019. It was obviously too good to last, there is a numerical limit on F2A visas so naturally there would come a time where we would be receiving more applications than there are available visas.
We honestly cannot believe the F2A final action date stayed current all through March 2023!
According to July's Visa Bulletin, it seems the final action date is September 8, 2020.
The Final Action Date indicates the dates an immigrant visa number will be available for a foreign national with a current priority date that month. On your receipt after submitting your application to USCIS there is a “priority date” when that “priority date” and the Final Action Date matches up it means there is a visa available for your application.
This is usually when we can expect the next part of your immigration process to begin.
F2A is a Family-sponsored preference on the state department’s visa bulletin. It indicates the availability date of visas for Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents.
In the chart below, the listing of a date for any class indicates that the class is oversubscribed (see paragraph 1); "C" means current, i.e., numbers are authorized for issuance to all qualified applicants; and "U" means unauthorized, i.e., numbers are not authorized for issuance.
(NOTE: Numbers are authorized for issuance only for applicants whose priority date is earlier than the final action date listed below.)
This means that any Legal Permanent Residents who are looking to sponsor their spouse or children over to the United States who are not exempt from the per-country limit, will be waiting quite a while before there is a visa available for their loved ones.
We will continue to monitor the movement of the monthly visa bulletin. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your case please feel free to contact us.
